Ray's Rave!

Wed, 07/03/2013 - 16:00 -- Ray

Well it&;s now official !!!
Two of us in the Happy Herb crew are standing for the HEMP party !
So congratulations to BJ who is standing for the senate in New South Wales and I have volunteered to stand for the Senate in South Australia!
We all appreciate BJs passion for THE HERB and it&;s benefits to society
My passion is primarily for ALL herbs as you may be aware by now
I would rather stand for the HERB party, but there isn&;t one!

I entered politics once before for the EARTH FIRST party and found it to be a very corrupt and a tainted industry full of liars, turncoats AND egotistical two faced power trippers. (witness current events in parliament!)
Nevertheless personally I am outraged that the most nutritious plant on the planet is forbidden (only in Australia), and entered my name mainly because I want to see nutritious hemp food freely available as well as hemp products and medicinal cannabis, and lets face it, the controversy over synthetics has been brought about by bad laws in the first place
Karma baby!
Who has the right to forbid natural plants!! If any are dangerous (in fact relatively few are), instead of prohibition which creates far more problems, why not allow them to be prescribed as pharmaceuticals are !!

Please vote for us!

Dear Ray
So glad I was told about your happy herb store and was amazed to read about your extensive interest and active involvement in many issues relating to humanity's right to accessing the fruits of its home, Earth. Integrity, honesty and valour are much needed virtues in the collective consciousness and We are blessed to have a trailblazer such as yourself pave the way for other like hearted souls :) Thank you and I give you my support and vote.

Fact: ALL plants can be lethal at a certain dose. Just ask any qualified herbalist or naturopath. Just as synthetic drugs(isolated chemicals from Plants) can be dangerous, so can 'natural' plant chemicals.

Hi Bianca, thanks for your comment.

It's true that every single plant is lethal in large enough quantities. Even water, if consumed in sufficiently high doses, can kill.

However, the amount of cannabis required to provide a fatal dose is so large as to be impossible to take:

"The non-fatal consumption of 3000 mg/kg A THC by the dog and monkey would be comparable to a 154-pound human eating approximately 46 pounds (21 kilograms) of 1%-marihuana or 10 pounds of 5% hashish at one time. In addition, 92 mg/kg THC intravenously produced no fatalities in monkeys.

These doses would be comparable to a 154-pound human smoking at one time almost three pounds (1.28 kg) of 1%-marihuana or 250,000 times the usual smoked dose and over a million times the minimal effective dose assuming 50% destruction of the THC by smoking.

Thus, evidence from animal studies and human case reports appears to indicate that the ratio of lethal dose to effective dose is quite large. This ratio is much more favorable than that of many other common psychoactive agents including alcohol and barbiturates (Phillips et al. 1971, Brill et al. 1970)."

That said, like any substance or any tool, cannabis is certainly not entirely harmless if abused.

It is a very powerful medicine and a renewable source of high quality food, fibre, and building materials, in addition to being widely enjoyed for recreational use as a relaxant and an enhancer of creativity.

As such we advocate for people's right to responsibly use this natural plant, and provide alternatives to assist people who wish to break habitual cannabis use.

Thanks again for your comment, please feel free to comment further.

Kind regards.
