According to the Alliance for Natural Health, herbs and food supplements are 300,000 times less likely to kill you than a stay in hospital in the UK. Taking pharmaceutical drugs isn't quite as dangerous as going to hospital, but still 7,750 times more likely to cause death than herbs.
These figures seriously call into question the claims that legislation against herbal remedies is on the basis of 'public safety'. Once again it's obvious that those who profit from the production of chemical medicines have a vested interest in influencing government policymakers, especially when it comes to regulating our access to natural healthcare.
"[F]ood supplements are the safest substances to which we are commonly exposed – while being the target of increasingly restrictive European legislation aimed at ‘protecting consumers’. In contrast, being admitted to a UK hospital or taking prescription drugs exposes a person to one of the greatest preventable risks in society.
In fact, preventable medical injuries in UK hospitals expose you to around the same risk of death as being deployed on military service to Afghanistan – both of which are around 300,000 times greater than the risk of death from taking natural health products."
"The risk of death from pharmaceutical drugs in the UK is 62,000 times that of taking food supplements, and 7,750 times more than taking herbal medicines."
"[B]ig business interests, working in close collaboration with unelected bureaucrats within government agencies, have manipulated [our] society’s priorities. In the process, the emerging regulatory system, especially in Europe, is now getting in the way of our ability to exercise one of our most sacred and fundamental rights: how we manage our health, especially if we want to do so naturally."
